How hard is it to get started in this game?

I played League of Legends like five or six time and didn't do too well in the slightest.

So how difficult is it to get started in this game?
As well are all possible Characters free or is this another "Pay to Unlock" game?

They're all free, and I could never get into this game. Really depends who you play with, if you have friends who play it, they might help you out.

I played a round or two and got dominated; so I assume it takes some time to become keen on what to do, how to move and when to attack; what special attacks to buy and upgrade first.. etc. You also have to find a class you like, and with the 51959159 heroes to choose from that might take a very long time.

With League of Legends all you have to do is know how to move and attack and you are already better than half of everyone of your level.

It is not a pay to unlock, all of the heroes are available assuming you are playing all pick.

It is more challenging than LoL IMO. It has a moderate learning curve. Find some people you want to play with, learning will be more enjoyable. Watching games and streams helps as well. A lot of the learning is just hero/item knowledge.

Towersheep and I are both willing to teach people who want to learn, ask Jorgen, he out of everyone we play with has probably come the farthest along in terms of skill. If you ask for help because you are new, I won't get mad, if you play poorly because you are new, I won't get mad. When you fuck up on purpose, or say 'oh fuck it', thats when I get mad.

yeh they are good mentors. Unless you do something exceedingly retarded they won't get mad. If you do end up doing something dumb they don't get mad if you just take the tip from that mistake and learn stuff =)

Its easy peasy i piked up how to play huskar perfectly in a day, but theres been times where idk wut thefuck im doin with my hero hahaha just depends on how u want to play i guess

Im not sure about dota, I would assume its similar, considering both games are practically the same.
