Its more a case of more people have gaming consoles, than gaming PCs.  I have an xbox so I can play with my friends on xbox live who dont have steam.  Plus there are some rather good console exclusive games.  I love PC gaming and have always been primarily a PC gamer, but consoles have their place, they are much more accessible for non-techie people and more of my friends have consoles than gaming PCs (everyone has a PC but not good enough to play new games well)

i like the idea of Piston cause that way i can choose whether I want to play steam games at my desk on my PC with my 32" HD monitor, or on the couch on the steam console with my 32" HDTV  ;D
That's misleading, since all consoles are by definition "Gaming Consoles" who has any "non gaming consoles"

So I'm not so sure that's true.

The center console in my car is strictly non-gaming

Also Death: RAM is Random-access memory I believe, as opposed to your HDD and other storage devices which store data in a predetermined order while RAM can be accessed in any random order when info is needed. This is important for any complicated task a computer performs such as playing games. Ps3's and other consoles hardly use half a GB of RAM b/c it's all they need. Steambox gets' 8-16x more RAM because it's awesome and will need more.

^This.

The word "console" means many things.  The phrase "gaming console" refers to specifically what we are talking about.

Words update as time passes, when we are referring to Xbox as a console, it's understood.

Lets not be smart asses here.

Fact is their are more PC's then Gaming Consoles.

Yes, but there are not more GAMING pc's than gaming consoles =P  In general more people game on consoles than they do on PC's these days.  Maybe its different in Canada?

There are actually more Xbox 360's out there than there are users on Steam.

I mean there are no concrete numbers to back up this sorta thing so not exactly fact, but you gotta ask yourself out of all the people you know IRL, how many play on console vs. PC?

You can't compare it that way. That's very unfair. You don't need a gaming grade PC to game. You can game casually on a nongaming computer.
And considering Consoles are acceptable for only casual gaming, I don't see how you can make that comparison.
http://www.gamespot.com/news/steam-crosses-40-million-users-6348281
40 Million, which is the same number of XboxLive users.

So no wrong again. Their actually very closely equal in the number of users. Also not every gamer uses steam. So no. More people most defiantly do not game on consoles vs pcs. PC's are still the most gamed platform. People who play PC games just tend to not be as "loud" so to speak in that we don't hear about it as much since Consoles are more of a social experience.

So, their actually is things to back that up ;)

Either way I'm not having a god damn PC vs Console Debate,

So while staying back on topic I only have to say, I await the arrival of Piston but I'm not about to get excited as I do not have enough current information to go on as to weather I'd like the idea.

Ok, I'll drop it but you always bring it up Broseph.  I'm waiting on price and release date, if its reasonable I will get one.

I bet 50$ they'll put a MH game on this thing.

From what I gather of "why?" is that Gabe thinks that Windows 8 and something else about pentium's new series will  be GG for pc gaming (the latter being GG for PCs themselves). I don't remember exactly what those articles said.

Pentiums? The next gen core series code named "Haswell" are predicted to drop kick the shit out of the latest Ivy Bridge processors. It will be a refinement oft he current platform and a die shrink which will hopefully cool those hot motherfuckers off.

PC gaming isn't going anywhere. With out the base of PC to fuel the need for stronger faster better we would all be rolling Wii's -_-

I don't think Gabe would assume windows 8 and an upgrade in processing would kill PC gaming. This isn't even a console it's a mini-PC for morons who can't just assemble a PC for themselves, and it'll probably be a cheaper, faster easier solution to getting something they can play PC games on. Even I might sacrifice some money to check one of these things out if their cheap enough and have more HDD space than my current computer.. lol

It's brilliant and it's going to be a success, and people are going to compare it to Xbox360 and PS3 like twats I'm sure. I was hoping Steam and Sony would just partner up and make the PS4 a Steam platform but that'd be too weird for the two businesses I suppose.

Well fuck they have the money, they should just become a rival company to Microsoft and sell computers eventually. They could DOMINATE the PC gaming market as dictators at that point.

Have you used steam? It's far from stable. If they wont to make an OS they need to make their shit stable first.

Exactly; you design a computer for your software and you can 100% control the stability. Not 100% but you get what I mean, if they're pumping out their own computer lines with their own OS, I'd assume they'd be more on top of the stability and glitcyness. Maybe not though, but if anyone could make that their goal in the future it's Valve.

Theirs no reason for steam to be as unstable as it is, You can't blaim windows for that. Making an OS doesn't magically make every app you make on it work like a charm. It takes a long time to make a refined OS such as Windows.

Anyways, new news in about another console coming out with similar specs... XD
