Too Long, but Must read TL;DRI will go on the record and publicly say that valve has never disappointed me. I will also start this off by saying that yes I want to play HL2:ep3/HL3 So god damn bad.
TOTALLY HAVING ALMOST NOTHING TO DO WITH MY POST, but I found this and I was LMAO
https://developer.valvesoftware.com/wiki/Valve_TimeHowever,
I come to realize that Valve is no slacker when it comes to development. Lets look at the time between the release of HL1 and HL2
1998 - 2004
HLDM
Team Fortress is created on the Source Engine and TFC and is a huge hit
Counter-Strike is picked up and polished to 1.5 then 1.6 Most popular multiplayer game of its type
Day of Defeat Countless hours lost to this great game.
HL 1 Additions Blue Shift Opposing Force
Ricochet...meh
The launch of STEAM in 2003 Which I think we can all agree has brought gaming to a whole new level.
Now HL2 and today
2004 - Present
Lets just lump all the shit tons of non valve Games that are now available via steam into one lump sum of
FUCK YEAH!Condition Zero
HL2DM
TF2
CSS
DoD:S
HL:LC
Ep1
Ep2
Portal 1
Portal 2
L4D
L4D2
DOTA2
Alien Swarm
CS:GO
Also take into consideration the leaps and bounds made by Steam to include not only the MAC users, (eww) but Linux users. (yay)
No other dev team has ever sparked the creation of more maps/mods/community than Valve.
There are enough maps for CSS/CS to keep me satisfied for decades. I laugh at the n00bs who toss out $15 a quarter to get reskinned maps for Call of Duty and BF series. No one supports the gaming community more by driving the rights for Dedicated/Private customer owned servers/Unsanctioned content/Perpetual updates then Valve.
If you think this is just some Fan Boy rant, you got it wrong...I have just taken the time to digest the fact that if there wasn't a steam I wouldn't even own a gaming rig, or devote as much time to playing endless content for which I have no subscription. They also cause the world to go on a PC game sale frenzy, which makes even the most hyped up titles be obtainable at realistic prices within just a few months of release.
I respect you Valve, and I can wait for HL3 and I know you are bringing the A game when you do. I am still stoked about half the games I have yet to even finish in my STEAM Library.
Still butt hurt about the wait time for HL ep/3 ? Ask yourself this question...Don't I have enough Steam games to play as it is?
if not then you need to open your eyes/wallet during the summer sales. -_-
TLBMR TL;DRValve rocks and I can wait for HL since I have tons of other shit to play from the same company to keep me occupied.
It is worth the wait!
