Ughhh help

Trying to learn C++ then lua. I am using www.cplusplus.com and got to the third part of the tutorial but it got so stale that I couldnt renemer half of what i was reading.
Is there a easier/quicker way to learn or a site with a less stale tutorial? If so pleae tell me/Link me site.
