Fretta Server taken down

This is bullshit IMO.  No one's played on Fretta because it's been broken forever.  Matt needs to get off his ass and work on this server instead of playing Minecraft.

This was a popular server when it was up and running properly, I've seen if full many times months ago.  Way to go CG, might as well take TTT down as well and put up 7 Ricochet and The Hidden servers...

I'll be honest and say this is a horrible idea even though it wasn't populated. But then again that's because it was broken...
Still, out of all the servers to take down and not have future plans for, Fretta? I am disappoint. (although my say matters little, just my input)

The server went down due to negligence of the head-admin, and inactivity. CG as a whole is pursuing other investments, such as TF2, we're going to revive the server again, but not as some side-server to TTT, we are going to be making it a priority, and let the TTT live by itself.

You would understand the reasoning had you been in the meeting. Anyways, it's for the best, we're dropping it to use the space for something we feel is better for CG as a whole.

What? But Fretta was damn ass populated when people actually gave a shit. I have spent time inside fretta and been able to quickly populate it. I know Matt has been really inactive so then why not give him a warning and find some one to fix the fretta problems. From what I heard on the server there were all these awesome and super ideas for the server which havent been implemented. Why not let it live but change the head if the current wont give a shit about it? When I was playing I could get atleast half the server filled if not more. We have given Team Fortress 2 about 60 chances and there has been about as many Head Admins for it, So why not do the same for fretta?

ALL GMOD SERVERS down the line will be moved off of our serverbox or taken down

Gmod servers are major targets for DDOS attacks and with all the attacks hitting only our gmod servers it takes all the other servers offline with it.  This would not be a problem if this did not happen on such a frequent basis of us having our ip null routed for 24 hours every 2-3 days and throwing me into an hour out of my day to sort out the ddos attacks null routes and getting the servers back online.  It is part of a larger reason that we will be putting all the gmod servers except the TTT offline because they are magnets for ddos attacks and until we can find a work around or a better datacenter or the attacks simply stop this is done more out of necessity for the survival of CG.
Basically leave the server up will it populate yes if it were fixed and not having a negligent head admin BUT the ddos attacks are still relentless and the server would easily be targeted for ddos attacks which would take the server and all the others offline for a day at a time thus killing any real growth in CG on the servers.

On top of it being broken negligent head admin and players refusing and not wanting to populate or start up the server their is no point in it being up

the same will be down for the DarkRP server

this decision was brought up by me at the meeting earlier today and after explaining it everyone agreed (16 people in the meeting)


this is not us "not giving a chance to fretta" we gave alot of chances to tf2 because it is a major game and is not a game that is EASY to ddos


the files will not be deleted and I have backups sitting around just in case anything happens

the servers are offline to prevent it being used to launch ddos attacks although they can still use the TTT and DarkRP server but DarkRP will be shut down and TTT will be moved to another box (just an ip change is all you will see)

basically Fretta stays = ddos attacks persist taking all the other servers offline and on top of being counter productive for the Fretta server it is counter productive for CG  Gmod servers have become more of a liability than an asset.

This was not an easy decision and if you wish to debate about I am all ears if you have a better solution
