Steam fucked me...

Over. I went to Steam Support to get help with Steam crashing on start up, and this guy who was replying to my Ticket sent me to download this program that had a virus in it ;_; now my computer wont start up anymore...
Any time I start up my comp before it gets to Windows log on it flashes weird characters like "[^&:" and after that it freezes

Are you sure you were on the real Steam site when this happened? There are a lot of the phishing sites and I doubt that someone from Steam would tell you to download a program that would ruin your computer.

Have you tried a system restore to a point when your steam was working?

just go to Start->all programs->system tools->System restore-> select a date that it was working-> restart

Let me know how you get on as that should fix it.

have you tried to start the computer in safety mode? (I am not at all good at theese things xD)
If you can get as far as to get into the computer and get back to a time where the comp works, other than that you can ofcourse reinstall the comp =P

They didn't send me a virus they sent me to download an unsafe program from some website, and I can't even fully launch my computer to get to any files.

Thanks I'll try this when I get a chance, also a friend told me that the virus could have deleted the important Windows files on my comp would the OS disk restore the files?

Yes, they would restore the files. Doing a system repair replaces all Windows files.

Hold F8 when starting your computer and click repair your computer or last know good configuration. if you click repair your computer you should see this screen and use whatever you feel is necessary to fix the problem (probably startup repair or system restore)
