I did just want to make a point, really, but I put it in this subforum because I'm open to debate about it.

Although war is immoral and more deleterious than anything else, it has its advantges.
- Increased economic activity (during an arms race)

How is economic activity on the same level as human life?

- Depending on significance, can be a source of influence on modern literature

How is literature on the same level as human life?

- Makes for good television/cinema recordings.

Not everything has to be on-par with human life (in terms of significance) as if that were the case, we would not have moved anywhere in the world, and technological advancement would be a myth.

Random example: I'm all for gay rights but it pisses me off to no fucking end that, say, a lesbian couple insists on pregnancy instead of adopting a poor fucking kid whose life in an orphanage or children's home is nothing but shit.

I have to disagree here. A gay couple has every right to have their "own" child as a straight couple. Then again, you might be opposed to unfertile straight couples insisting on pregnancy too. In that case, your argument would not be restricted to gay people, and I might differ in my opinion.

However, I do not understand why the moral responsability of adopting "homeless" childs should rest on the shoulders of those couples incapable of conceiving their own babies. They have the same right as fully sexually functional (and by this I mean pregnancy) couples to have babies that share their DNA.

War has always been a propellant in the evolution of our species. Without war, our senses/general practicality/logic/reasoning/cognitive functions would have been a lot less efficient today. War has strengthened us as a people, no matter how cruel a practice.

But yeah, I am definitely opposed to how battles work nowadays. Like Napoleon once said, "the soldiers do the fighting and the generals get the credit".
I say the first man to give an order, be the first to don a uniform and delve into the front lines of battle.

Sorry to cut in here, but without World War 2, we would've lost about the same amount lives due to the Great Depression.

The problem is that without it, our country would have had a decreased population and economy.

There is no responsibility. Adoption (of the homeless) relies on one's ability to sympathize with the impoverished to the extent of allowing them into/live their homes.

During the Great Depression, 23,000 suicides occurred in the first year... Regardless of war, death is going to happen but at a slower rate. Whether Ghast wants to admit it or not, War does balance population.
At this rate, we'll only have war and old age to kill us off.
