um perhaps you werent aware of their prior games, system shock and system shock 2?  theyve been doing these 'shock' games FOREVER I'm pretty sure its gonna keep happening for quite some time, one game that fanboys PMSing over isnt gonna kill them.  I'm pretty sure theyre going with the bioshock title simply to insinuate it is in the same "world" as bioshock 1 and 2. 

Also system shock 2 has an enemy type in it that literally scares me so badly, thats how good of a game it was.  Like just hearing the enemy approaching freaks me the FUCK out.  Silent Hill is the only other series of game to ever do that to me.

Suffice to say the gameplay and enemy types WILL be awesome, its just a matter of if the story sucks *cough*BIOSHOCK 2*cough* to determine if its an awesome game or not.

how so?  bio is short for biological, and the game trailer blatantly shows plasmids being used so obviously its a similar world or same world just different time or place

This is where the fanboy part comes in. Sea slugs, plasmids, Rapture, blah blah blah.
Need to realize this is likely not in the same universe as the other Bioshocks.

Helpful speculation = Perhaps only 30% of the game takes place in the sky.

More useless speculation = Perhaps this is like a MGS3 take to the series. It's not set in the setting we know and love, but it helps explain the story.

If you took a minute to look it up, its set in 1910's America, its a former American city turned into a post civil war death star, its not a prequel.

They're in NO way related. Just like Final Fantasy for example, most of the titles in the series are never related. There will be some recurring elements, but the storylines are entirely different.

Am I the only one who gets the vibe that setting's contrast with Rapture is intentional? I mean, Rapture is underwater and was founded on anti-government principles...it also supported freedom of scence and other such things. Columbia is in the air, built on American priorities and has American flags flying everywhere. The pristineness of the place actually serves to make it eerier.
