Seems like a bit of a DOWNGRADE to me.

Cheaper to make one lump of hull plastic then two and combining them.

If their intention was to make the most hideous gaming device of this generation, they've succeeded.

I understand that this is a cheaper alternative to an expensive handheld and beggars can't be choosers and everything but that's seriously a really ugly design.

If you read the article it says it was designed for little kids.  Much easier to break something that folds up than one thick object.

According to Fils-Aime, the idea for the 2DS came from wanting to appeal to younger consumers, as the standard 3DS is aimed at players age seven and up.

It's not as nice as the 3DS simply because of their intended audience for the device, I fail to understand anyone complaining about something not designed for their use anyways, I mean, you might as well complain that kids diapers don't fit you

To comments of not being portable: it is smaller than a laptop, and laptops are portable so what's the complaint?

I'm still getting a 3DS with Pokemon X, the price difference isn't enough for this new one to be worth it to me.

It's only $30 cheaper than the normal 3DS. This isn't worth it to me...

I just don't get it at all...If the child is too young to operate an electronic in a clam shell...msybe they don't need said electronic at all?

Give em a stick and let them play outside.

If the 3D was a problem. Then save money and just use the same case and release a device that had 3D deleted from the main board and software.

This is just slapping a Rated E sticker on the same product to make more money for the release of PokeR-MOMz

My3DS is still collecting dust, We have used it only on plane rides.

Again, I'm curious why everyone is making a big deal out of something that doesn't affect them at all, don't need it don't buy it, designed for kids, last I checked noone in CG is under 10

Meh I'll probably just buy some GBA games instead. At least they are stuck using 32-bit graphics, which is actually what I like.
