Played through all of the main series in order... Chronological order, not order of release. Even bought a PS3 in December.. $250, 320gb console and came with MGS4, God of War 3 and Uncharted 3.
Favourite characters? Jeez. Where to start
Gray Fox and Otacon for their interaction with Snake. Otacon is also a character whose really hard not to love. He gets the shit end of the stick a lot of the time... Those who have played 1, 2 and 4 know what I'm talking about. The Raging Beauties also have quite a sad backstory. Psycho Mantis is a great character because he's redeemed right before he dies, not to mention he's terribly unique AND.. Well, his appearance in MGS4 is pretty awesome. Raidens story is pretty good, I think once people get past the shock of MGS2 and how he took the place of Snake in that game, he's really a great character. His ending is fantastic. And of course Solid Snake. He's Solid Snake. 'Nuff said.
As for favorite games, I'd say MGS for the story but the gameplay is quite dated. Then 4, Peace Walker, 2 and then 3. 4s control system and style and feel is just so insanely unique and refined and perfect. I love it
