An Xbox 360 vs PS3 Dilemna

I would buy a ps3 mainly because of the free online play and for the blue ray player. What does xbox 360 have? A HD Dvd which no one uses.

I'm not really a believer in all that Bluray hype, and I'm not really obsessed with HD either (although it's always nice). Whether the game is stunningly beautiful or not, I'll play it if it's fun.

And after reading the results of this thread, I think we'll be sticking with an Xbox 360. I believe me considering a PS3 was mostly the small piece of me that desperately wants to play Fat Princess and Little Big Planet 2, and hopefully I can replace that hole inside of me with something else. (Sad isn't it?)

Besides, I found something called the Penny Trick that supposedly works for quite a few people getting the 3 red rings, so if the guy is going to charge us again, I'll try that, and if it doesn't work, then we'll just get the new Xbox 360 model, since the trick doesn't look like it could harm anything.

A 360. Microsoft has not had a massive online downtime like this at all. My opinion of Sony has gone down the shitter.

Besides, in your situation there are more ways to have fun without spending further money.

The PSN gold for a month thing only applies to accounts that currently exist though, not those created during or after.

Also, less people use mics on PS3 and since most people use Xbox if you want to be social Xbox is the way to go. What I've found the cheapest is buying a 4GB Xbox Slim and buy another HDD off Ebay and replace the 4GB one. Depending on who you buy what from you can save about $30. I also think the Xbox comes with an adapter you can use to transfer HDD data from the old Xbox to an Xbox slim.

Deep down I really want a PS3, but all of the logic in my brain is telling me it's a fucking dumb idea and a waste of money.  Yes PSN is back up, and I can care less if it was hacked.  The PS3 will pay it's self off in 3 years because of the free online.  that's not factoring in the loss of games though.

This is probably the biggest decision of my life.  No seriously, I can't think of any others lol.

My thoughts: Ok, since you "must" have a console... (ick) Go with the Xbox.  FYI: The Xbox graphics are, what still based on the 2006/7 architecture...

Meaning the graphics card is basically as powerful as a X1950XT with a bit of HD capability tossed in. Depending on who you ask, that is 5-6 generations of graphics card old. This is not yet an issue, as this card is pushing televisions, not monitors, and does not have to do what a computer card does.

But, back to why the Xbox... Microsoft considers the Xbox to be "mid-life" with the final models coming out approximately 2015.

GT5 was a let down.
LBP is childish and stoopid
Killzone was alright minus the horrible controls.
Resistance feels too much like a rip off of other games.
God of War is pretty much the ONLY decent game as of late...

I mean, I'd argue with Mass Effect 2 but considering that the PS3 had ME2 EVENTUALLY, I don't really know how to argue with that LOL

You fail at life if you believe games should be all hardcore and LBP is childish, it is a fuck around game that you can play with a bunch of casual people instead of theese hardcore games that only gamers play.

I've owned both consoles, and I've played Gears of War and Killzone 2 to death. I prefer PC over both consoles and they both have their strengths and weaknesses. I don't really LIKE the 360 simply because the hardware is outdated and the exclusives are lacking. I disliked LBP because of that fact, yes. I enjoyed the custom content and I've admittedly had fun times playing online but otherwise, there's nothing there other than bleh-ness.

I do have top medals on Killzone 2, but in both KZ2 and 3, the controls weren't tight and they always have room for improvement...

Yes LBP is lacking if you play it alone, but if you have a bunch of random people who have a sense of humour it can be a bunch of fun.
