Please make an account on this forum so if/when this one goes down and stays down for weeks at a time we'll still have an easy and reliable way to communicate with each other and stay in-the-loop.

The way things have been the last few weeks, I'll believe it when I see it. In the mean time there's no harm in not having a pre-determined alternative set up preemptively.

It would be foolish to discourage this, only so when things DO go down again, everybody is left in the dark and has to find an atlernative through word of mouth.

Basically Wholegrain is saying don't worry about it. Probably won't happen again (unless we switch hosts -_-) and that if anything does happen we'll have something up our sleeve.

And I'm saying I've already worried about it for the last three weeks, and made an alternative myself since you guys clearly didn't have one, and unless you've already got a back-up ready (In which case you need to let everyone know ahead of time so people aren't left in the dark next time) I've already taken the initiative and provided us with one.

i myself didn't know the website would be down that long it was intended to be down 24 hours at the longest

Oh this is serious....

I think back ups are good. If shit happens (our new host can go out of business or loose power) it's good to have a contingency plan!

Slyder, I think, has a valid point, where if the forums go down, a need for some communication will still exist, particularly for the admin level.  And putting everyone on Vent to do it, well, is impossible...
A back up plan is a good plan.
