What laptop should I buy?

So I had this in the shout box, but was recommended to make a thread instead... So I'm just going to paste what I had in the shoutbox here:

What would you guys recommend in the way of laptops? I'm pretty much set on getting a MacBook because I want to learn to code my own iOS apps and such (I already have a Apple Dev account because I wanted iOS 7 on my iPhone, and I made a little business out of getting iOS 7 on friends phones), plus Apple straight up makes a good laptop. I'm open to recommendations though for a windows based PC because I COULD run it as a hackintosh. I have about $1400 to spend ($1600 MAX, but I really don't want to spend THAT much) and I'd like to get one with a 4th gen intel processor obviously.

Here's my suggestion, not sure if this i7 is exactly what you want, but these are serious laptops, plus Lenovo makes the best laptop keyboards I've ever used.

It has 3rd gen intel processors though. Although not SO much different than the 4th gen, if I'm gonna buy a NEW laptop, I want the NEWEST stuff. You feel me brahski?

It is not bad, just the metro is made for a touchscreen not a mouse. Windows 8 is really refined to the point that it loads faster than windows 7. The reason i don't like windows 8 is cause of the compatibility issues that comes with it.

Ok guys, pay no attention to the version of windows it's running. I have a copy of windows 7 if I REALLY need it. I don't care if it's running windows 95. I really only care about the machine itself. Unless it's running something besides windows, do not let the OS factor in. Kapeesh?

if you want a 4th gen, wait. They are not fully out in the market, yet.

I suggest an ASuS gaming model, since you have the cash.   IF you are going 8, make sure it is a touch screen. In my experience, the touch screen makes 8 livable.  8.1 will be better with a touch screen too.

If you do not want 8, go 7 Pro or 7 Ultimate.  Why? It allows for more ram than Home Premium (its limited to 16) and you have a virtual machine with a free copy of XP that will run windowed, allowing for the gaming of older generation games, and programs.
