I know this is sort of a necro,
but I find it really sad that this thread only has 3-4 posts wishing him farewell. I think Klondor is one of the most under appreciated members of CG and has contributed far more than most people here. He's taken care of finances for over 2 years now, and I think it's gone unnoticed for too long. Thank you Klondor for all you've done. The break is well deserved, and I hope you have fun!
See you later, bud.
(btw, it's me, G-man. You probably won't remember as we've only talked once or twice [in-game] haha)

Where medicine is going today, There will be no deaths from disease given the time.
Infectious microorganisms evolve alongside medicinal advances.
This truth scares me.

Skieski, I'm opposed to both.
Ghast, sure, war has strengthened us martially, strategically, and technologically (in some ways), but the relevance of those benefits is largely confined to war and and I don't think the other benefits overwhelm the negative aspects and consequences of war.
Boxman, how does that good fortune justify war?
War isn't justified, but it doesn't have to be. During the Great Depression, 23,000 suicides occurred in the first year... Regardless of war, death is going to happen but at a slower rate. Whether Ghast wants to admit it or not, War does balance population. At this rate, we'll only have war and old age to kill us off.
Unless everyone just decides to have a mass suicide... Just going to point that out.
It does not balance population... If anything, it helps; and even then, it only affects a specific demographic. I don't think you understand the concept of natural death and fertility rates.

Then again crypto, the actual moral dispute is subjective. Also, Good fortune > Prosperity > Higher Fertility/Lower Infant Mortality - Increasing Population - Territorial Disputes - War - Economic Depression - Innovation - REPEAT

Random example: I'm all for gay rights but it pisses me off to no fucking end that, say, a lesbian couple insists on pregnancy instead of adopting a poor fucking kid whose life in an orphanage or children's home is nothing but shit.
I have to disagree here. A gay couple has every right to have their "own" child as a straight couple. Then again, you might be opposed to unfertile straight couples insisting on pregnancy too. In that case, your argument would not be restricted to gay people, and I might differ in my opinion.
However, I do not understand why the moral responsability of adopting "homeless" childs should rest on the shoulders of those couples incapable of conceiving their own babies. They have the same right as fully sexually functional (and by this I mean pregnancy) couples to have babies that share their DNA.
There is no responsibility. Adoption (of the homeless) relies on one's ability to sympathize with the impoverished to the extent of allowing them into/live their homes. I admit, I am not as heartfelt as Angelina Jolie or Madonna.

Technology pretty much exists for the sake of extending, easing, and otherwise aiding human life. War exists for the sake of none of those.
War has always been a propellant in the evolution of our species. Without war, our senses/general practicality/logic/reasoning/cognitive functions would have been a lot less efficient today. War has strengthened us as a people, no matter how cruel a practice. But yeah, I am definitely opposed to how battles work nowadays. Like Napoleon once said, "the soldiers do the fighting and the generals get the credit". I say the first man to give an order, be the first to don a uniform and delve into the front lines of battle.

Okay, I don't think you understand me. I was joking about the awesome vocabulary of your post.
I did just want to make a point, really, but I put it in this subforum because I'm open to debate about it.
Although war is immoral and more deleterious than anything else, it has its advantges. - Increased economic activity (during an arms race) How is economic activity on the same level as human life?
- Depending on significance, can be a source of influence on modern literature How is literature on the same level as human life?
- Makes for good television/cinema recordings. How is television/cinema on the same level as human life?
fucking lol'd Not everything has to be on-par with human life (in terms of significance) as if that were the case, we would not have moved anywhere in the world, and technological advancement would be a myth.

Jesus christ, that was a long sentence.
I agree with Dark Emo. It's just there for shits and giggles, I guess. I haven't seen anyone play on it since I got back.

No, no, I was referring to the choice and arrangement of letters.
The intonation of your posts just makes you seem like you wanted to make a point, rather than debate about it.

This isn't even a debate anymore...
I think we've come to the consensus that its not about age, its about how they they act.
How about a lock ?

Yeah.
Human beings are primal in essence; even with moral dictation, the intrinsic feeling of using physical coercion as a means of gaining something or advancing through something prioritizes itself in our minds.
I'm not even going to dignify this with a response.
So that's it? WHY THE CESSATION!? Maybe I should disagree with you to get some responses. Alright, Although war is immoral and more deleterious than anything else, it has its advantages. - Increased economic activity (during an arms race) - Depending on significance, can be a source of influence on modern literature - Makes for good television/cinema recordings. THIS POST WAS NOT OUT OF MALICIOUS DISCORD. I JUST WANTED TO CONTINUE THE DEBATE.
